Mechanics_Chassis

A chassis is the load-bearing framework of an artificial object, which structurally supports the object in its construction and function. More on chassis   Chassis    For this part I used a couple of metal plates and a few spacers to build a chassis and fix front and rear parts: Metal plates  First I fixed all parts on a one piece plate, but then I decided to make it more flexible and give the chassis a bit of freedom so that front and rear parts be able to turn around the same axis independently. I used a wheel like this: I fixed front and rear on two separate plates, removed the plastic wheel and used it to connect two plates. Connection between two plates   So this is the final chassis:    Completed chassis Underneath and so this form is possible now:  After all, obviously this way of fixing two parts is in no way vital and even may cause problems and be changed later.   Arash Ardeshiri June 30 2021  '

Mechanics_Differential and engine

Image
A differential is a gear train with three shafts that has the property that the rotational speed of one shaft is the average of the speeds of the others, or a fixed multiple of that average. A differential   In automobiles and other wheeled vehicles, the differential allows the outer drive wheel to rotate faster than the inner drive wheel during a turn. This is necessary when the vehicle turns, making the wheel that is traveling around the outside of the turning curve roll farther and faster than the other. The average of the rotational speed of the two driving wheels equals the input rotational speed of the drive shaft. An increase in the speed of one wheel is balanced by a decrease in the speed of the other.  More on differential   Here also, I am going to use a toy car differential which had acceptable quality and is structured and acts exactly like a real one: Motor and differential  for this set I have completely removed shock absorbers and added two l...

Mechanics_Steering system

Image
As the first part, I am going to write a bit about the steering system I am going to use for this version. Steering is a system of components, linkages, etc. which allows any vehicle to follow the desired course. I am going to use parts of a steering system from an RC car which is quite similar to a real world steering systems: A simple steering system   More on steering system The original system had some thing that could only turn the wheels completely to the left or to the right(no intermediate positions). It was very simple and did not give a good control over the car so I changed it with a servo motor( Futaba S3003 ): Futaba S3003 servo motor this way we can control the angle of steer freely and easily using PWM. I fixed the servo using a bracket, bunch of bolts, spacers, and plates and screwed the tie rods to the crossed horn of the motor: Changed steering system   Changed steering system I am also going to use(probably) a lead-acid battery which is very heavy, and add i...

Star wars ATAT   In this blog, I am going to write about a robot I am trying to build piece by piece. I am going to call it "Cub". Although this is the first version I am going to document and publish, It is not really the first one. This version is the 3rd recreation ( Cub 0.30 ) of a simple rover that I built to be able to control over the internet. I am probably going to redo lots of what I have done before because the project was abandoned for nearly a year, but that won't be the goal anymore. The goal for this version will be to add AI. I want this one to be able to explore and decide for itself, at least to some extent. For now, it is going to be in the form of a rover, a truck, because basically It is the simplest form (I have also tried spider and snake forms which by the way are uncontrollably complex) but It might change at some point. I will try to keep it as simple and as cheap as possible so that others can follow up if they wanted. I am going to use scraps a...
